The Quiet Find

Privacy

The Quiet Find runs no analytics, no advertising pixels and no tracking scripts of any kind, and loads its fonts from its own server rather than a third party. This page sets out the little that is left.

Who is responsible

The Quiet Find operates this site and decides what is processed here. Write to privacy@thequietfind.com for anything on this page.

What is processed, and why

Connection data. Like every website, this one cannot be served without your device connecting to a server. Our host records the usual connection data in its logs: IP address, browser user agent, the page requested and the time. It is used to deliver the pages and to keep the site up against abuse, and for nothing else.

Email you send us. If you write to us, we hold your message and your address for as long as it takes to deal with it, and to keep the thread if you write again.

There is nothing else. No accounts, no newsletter, no comment form, no profiling, and no automated decisions about you.

Legal basis

Legitimate interest: serving a working, secure website, and answering people who write to us. We do not rely on consent, because we do not do anything that would need it.

Who else sees it

Our host. The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes the connection data above on our behalf in order to deliver and protect it.

Amazon. Follow one of our links and you are on Amazon, who may set a cookie to attribute the visit. That processing is theirs, not ours. See the Amazon Privacy Notice.

Pinterest. The save button on our articles is an ordinary link, not an embedded widget. Nothing reaches Pinterest until you click it.

We do not sell data, and we have none to sell.

How long it is kept

Connection logs are retained by our host for its own standard period and are not copied anywhere by us. Email is kept while the exchange is useful and deleted when it is not.

Your rights

You can ask for access to your data, its correction or deletion, a restriction on how it is used, a copy of it, or object to it being used at all. Write to the address above and we will answer. If our answer does not satisfy you, you can complain to the data protection supervisory authority in the country where you live.
